The Code of Conduct for the Supply of Electricity to Small Use Customers (2022) regulates and controls the conduct of retailers and distributors that supply electricity to residential and small business customers.
The Electricity Code Consultative Committee (ECCC) regularly assesses the suitability of the Code for the purposes of the Electricity Industry Act 2004. In December 2024, the Committee’s Final Review made 13 recommendations to amend sections of the Code.
We released our Draft Decision proposing to amend the Code on 5 May 2025.
The ECCC facilitated a public consultation process on the Draft Decision, receiving six public submissions on the amendments (published below).
On 10 July 2025, we published the ECCC’s final advice on the Draft Decision.
The ERA’s final decision on amendments to the Code is expected to be published in September 2025 and Code amendments to commence 1 January 2026.
For more information about the ECCC refer to the Electricity Code Consultative Committee webpage.
